From 26 to 29 January 2026, project partners gathered in Praia, Cabo Verde for the Kick-off Meeting of the Safebook Horizons project, hosted by Social Development Hub (SDH). The meeting brought together project coordinators, partner representatives, and all relevant team members to align on the operational and financial aspects of the project and establish a clear work plan. Through collaborative discussions, participants defined project objectives, timelines, program content, target groups, visibility strategies, and responsibilities, ensuring that every team member had a shared understanding of their role throughout the project cycle and a strong foundation for effective implementation.

Safebook Horizons is here — expanding safety culture from Europe to Sub-Saharan Africa! 🚀💬

📖 What started as a manual… is becoming a movement.

👥 Led by KOM 018 🇷🇸 in partnership with Beyond Borders 🇮🇹, YES 🇧🇬, SDH 🇨🇻, Favelas SA 🇿🇦, and SIWoC 🇹🇿, the Safebook Horizons project will empower youth workers and young people in 6 countries across 2 continents to promote youth safety culture using innovative non-formal education tools.

🎯 What’s the mission?

✔️ Create a new edition of the Safebook manual tailored to youth work in Sub-Saharan Africa

✔️ Train youth workers in 6 key safety areas:

  • Peer violence
  • Cyberbullying
  • Discrimination
  • Psychoactive substance abuse
  • Reproductive health

✔️ Use concept photography & graphics as tools for safety education

✔️ Build a vibrant network of youth advocates across Europe and Africa

✔️ Raise awareness and influence change in local communities

📅 Project will be implemented from November 2025 to April 2028 in Bulgaria, Cabo Verde, Italy, Serbia, South Africa and Tanzania and is co-funded by the European Union.

🔐 Because safety is a right — and a culture we build together.
