We are proud to share our new Annual Report “Hateful Discriminatory Discourse Online in Serbia – 2025”, developed within the LIFE – Living Safely in a Digital World project.

This report continues the monitoring of online hate speech among young people in Serbia, with a special focus on the social and political context of 2025. It highlights how hate speech is no longer limited to anonymous users on social media, but is increasingly amplified by public figures, political actors, and mainstream media.

Based on surveys, focus groups, desk research, and detailed case studies, the report explores emerging trends such as politically motivated hate speech, media manipulation, and the impact of protests and public crises on digital discourse. It also examines the emotional and psychological consequences for young people, as well as the effectiveness of reporting mechanisms and educational responses.

This publication is intended for youth workers, educators, researchers, journalists, policy makers, and anyone interested in understanding how online hate evolves in times of political instability, and how it can be challenged through media literacy, non-formal education, and youth engagement.

LIFE – Living Safely in a Digital World is a 2-year capacity-building in the field of Youth Erasmus+ project between five partner organizations – @amad_center from Albania, Младежко европейско общество / Youth European Society – YES from Bulgaria, @beyondbordersitaly from Italia, @kom018.nis.serbia from Serbia and @asso.eve_euromed from Tunisia.

The aim of Living Safely in a Digital World (LIFE) project, proposed by this consortium is to increase the resilience of the young generation on facing the risks of the digitalization and its impact in their everyday life through empowering youth organizations to be involved in policy dialogue and use non-formal learning in their work with the young people.

Project LIFE is implemented in the period: 01.11.2023 to 31.10.2025 in 5 countries: Serbia, Bulgaria, Italy, Tunisia and Albania. Project is supported by the European Union through the European Commission in the Erasmus+ capacity building in the field of youth program.
