From 11 to 14 August 2026, Niš, Serbia hosted the Final Event of the Wheelchair Handball - Start Up project, bringing together project partners, wheelchair handball players, representatives of sports clubs and organizations for people with disabilities, local government officials, stakeholders, and members of the wider public. As the culminating activity of the project, the event provided an opportunity to present the achieved results, share best practices and experiences, celebrate the participants’ achievements, and discuss the future development and sustainability of wheelchair handball. The event also contributed to raising awareness about wheelchair handball and strengthening cooperation among organizations and stakeholders committed to creating more opportunities for participation and social inclusion of people with disabilities through sport.
Croatian Wheelchair Basketball Association (HSKUK) from Croatia together with its partners, Faculty of Kinesiology of Osjek (KIFOS) from Croatia, Barcel’hona Sports Events from Spain and Club for Youth Empowerment 018 (KOM 018) from Serbia implements the project “Wheelchair Handball – Start Up” in order to raise awareness about this sport and provide more opportunities for social inclusion in and through sport of people with disabilities. Project aims to establish a sustainable foundation for the growth and development of wheelchair handball across Europe, fostering lasting opportunities for participation and social inclusion of individuals with disabilities. StartUp project will be implemented in Croatia, Serbia and Spain from October 2025 to September 2026. It is co-financed by EU.
