Pilot Activities - Building Bridges 2.0

Thumnail Local Activities BB2

As part of the Building Bridges 2.0 project, pilot activities were implemented in Spain, Cyprus, Romania and Serbia following the international seminar. In cooperation with local organizations, basketball clubs and social welfare institutions the activities created safe and inclusive spaces where people with intellectual disabilities (ID), together with their families and caregivers, could participate in sport and non-formal education activities. The pilot activities supported the project’s wider goal of promoting equal participation in sport, inclusion through basketball and healthy lifestyles.

Through sport, participants strengthened trust, teamwork, confidence and social interaction, while also learning more about inclusion, sport values and their rights.

Barcel’hona Sports Events from Spain, together with its partners Club for Youth Empowerment 018 (KOM 018) from Serbia, Asociaţia Ludoku from Romania and Dikaioma Elpidas from Cyprus implements project “Building Bridges – basketball for people with intellectual disabilities” to promote inclusion in and through sports of some of the most vulnerable groups. This initiative tends to develop new tools and methods in basketball for people with intellectual disabilities, promote equal participation in sport and promote healthy lifestyles of all. With activities in Spain, Cyprus, Romania and Serbia, project “Building Bridges 2.0” will be implemented from October 2025 to September 2026. Project is co-financed by European Union.
