From 27 to 30 August 2026, the organization Dream Colors held a HERstory event in Litoměřice, Czech Republic, dedicated to art, gender equality, and increasing the visibility of women through street art. The event was implemented as part of the urban and cultural festival Original Emotions, bringing together young people, artists, and creatives from the Czech Republic, Serbia, Denmark, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Italy.

At the heart of the programme was the creation of a mural dedicated to Sany, a Czech graffiti artist and filmmaker. In addition to the main mural, space was also dedicated to other women featured through the HERstory project, with the aim of making their stories and achievements more visible to the wider public. The murals were connected to the digital HERstory gallery through QR codes.

The programme included collaborative mural painting, a graffiti jam with international female artists, workshops for children and young people, an exhibition, music programmes, as well as discussions on graffiti subculture, identity, and gender issues. A special part of the programme consisted of discussion and storytelling sessions with Sany, Seok, and Leny, which created space for dialogue about the position of women in street art and the challenges female artists face.

The event concluded with the completion of the mural, installation of the QR code, and its official public presentation, accompanied by a guided tour with the artists, speeches by guests and project coordinators, and a final gathering of participants.

Beyond Borders from Italy, together with Club for Youth Empowerment 018 from Serbia, Dream Colours from the Czech Republic, Obojena Klapa from Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Danish Youth Team from Denmark, implements the “HERstory” project by using creative methods and art, specifically murals, to raise awareness and increase the visibility of significant women, thereby promoting the importance of gender equality in the partner countries. The overall aim of the project is to increase the visibility of women through art. The specific objectives are: 1) to develop tools for the promotion of historical female figures from the partner countries; 2) to develop a virtual platform for the promotion of female figures from the partner countries; 3) to raise awareness about important women from five countries through artistic expression – murals; and 4) to network mural artists at the European level. The project provides concrete tools and methods to contribute to greater awareness and visibility of women who have shaped the societies we know today. The project is implemented in Italy, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Czech Republic, and Denmark in the period from 1 November 2024 to 31 October 2026, and is co-financed by the European Union.
